law enforcement and the military are two different worlds. I have supervised female police officers on and off for twenty of my thirty working years. I have never had a female police officer break down and cry during an operation, but I also have never had to deal with a true military situation. Our operations in South America were the closest DEA ever came to mil-style ops, and we had several female agents doing excellent work there.
That said, there was never the need to bury sanitary products, or much of a chance of being taken prisoner by OPFOR (that has happened to DEA agents on several occasion,however). I agreed with Bob's references to law enforcement, but am not a military professional, and therefore do not pretend to make recommendations about that field.
