It's a relief to finally get the definitive word on that one particular unfortunate incident and I appreciate your willingness to jump in and set the record straight. My apologies to James K. and others for the inadvertent confusion I may have caused.

On some level, perhaps this demonstrates better than anything the manner in which we viewed British military casualties with the same remorse that we felt towards casualties of our own, be they through friendly fire accidents or otherwise. I especially remember the feelings of gratitude I felt for the Tornado drivers who continued to man their jets and contribute to the cause even in the face of the losses they were incurring in the early stages of the air campaign. I'm obviously in no position to speak for the A-10 pilot in question, but I would honestly be very surprised if his reaction to having committed such a monumental error were substantially different from that of the Apache pilot that I described.
