Tony, I know many, many doctors who own guns. (more)
Many have Carry permits; a lot have Target or Premises permits here in the city.
Handgun ownership issues aside, in someways handguns have become very ridiculously expensive. For example, 20 years ago I bought a Mk IV Series 70 Gov't Model (Colt .45 auto) for $289.00. Now I'm sure it's more than double that - the more you "accurize" it the more expensive, etc. My Walther PPKs in .380 was $200.00 (Made in Germany, not here by Interarms); now the German made ones are astronomical. I also had a S&W Model 19, .357 Magnum which cost about $200. In other words, handgun prices have gone up and that factor, together with limited accessibility (at least in NY State) have caused massive mark-ups in this area.
