if so, oops, I thought you were talking about serious wood heating. Sorry, I probably sounded like a real "dufe" as my kids used to say. My Lopi heats so hot in the winter that my house gets so warm we sometimes have to open windows.. seriously! And my windows are as old as the house and terribly drafty. People visiting our house, used to gas heat, start sweating and taking off their clothes. (then we hit the hottub:) If you are heating in So. Cal. with a Lopi, or any good woodstove, you probably will buy your wood at the Safeway in shrink-wrapped bundles! When I was younger and tougher, I would have the local sawmill deliver a huge dump-truck load of "tops"- the gnarly old crowns and butts of hardwood trees- for 125.00 and split them by hand for months. Now I rent a hydraulic splitter for a weekend and do it all at once. And I get my wood for free when tornados and storms blow down the big trees.
