We did clean them out a LOOOOONG time ago LOL. This block has been in the wash I don't know how many times. We took some WD-40 and wiped them out. I think it was some surface rust and some Caustic from the wash. We did put the roller lifters in a while back with no problems. As for the rest of the rust on the block, Its just a light surface rust. Nothing flaking. It will be fine. Remember this block was going to be thrown out and we saved it. I think it adds some art to this project LOL. Thanks for the concern.
