oil holes...

Response to My only question is the opening up of the bearing hole to match the oil hole..............

It is interesting to note that they get sequentially larger from front to back... probably to account for a pressure drop at each bearing as they get further from the pump.
That is a good piece of information, Thanks Barry
Edited to add; “facilitating manufacturing” may mean - not drilling different size holes or using different sizes holes in each bearing shell. This simple lack of concentricity would be an inexpensive way to accurately regulate oil flow.
