First time on since early last week, so no chance to wager. I am surprised (big time) by the Blue Thunder's showing. I would have thought it to be a bit more formidable. I would have probably picked the BT as numero uno. Definitely not what I would have thought it capable of.
The Streetmaster's being a single plane is the key. It's showing makes sense (in a way).
If my feeble old mind remembers the Edelbrock catalogs Streetmaster propaganda from the seventies, it was touted as being the "best of both worlds."
That, being a manifold that had smaller ports to maintain good velocity for everyday driving, yet be able to the provide power in the 4500-5500 RPM "stratosphere" that was 70's performance. An RV type intake with a powerband from 1500-5500 RPM. Your testing coincided with this band.
Had one on a 302. Worked better than the OEM piece in terms of mileage, and felt stronger. (I'm sure the 600 Holley, headers and RV cam helped a bunch also.)
They're not as bad as they've been portrayed. (Not that I'm going to trade my TP intakes for one. But I will trade a Streetmaster for a single four DUAL PLANE TP intake - any takers? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk)
