Response to Wow!!

pacted it and cremated it with this statement.

"IMO timing requirements are primarily cam, compression, and chamber dependent, but not as much intake dependent"

"but not as much intake dependent"

"but not as much intake dependent"

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I figure there has to be pretty significant variations in distribution of the Air:Fuel Mixture between not only the individual runners of a given intake manifold but also between all individual manifolds hence the power differences you found and plotted when testing the manifolds. I see the "optimum" distribution as virtually a "Unobtainable Perfect" that can only be aimed at esp with a primative wet flow intake manifold vs lets say Port Fuel Injection. Smokey always said the engine has to be tuned by the weakest cylinder since that is the one that is going to detonate. THe EGTs varried at each cylinder per manifold and those EGT changed with different manifolds that indicates something can I say drasticly? changed in the only one variable in your tests (the manifolds). The temp changes on one specific cylinder with different manifolds no doubt confirms the potential effects of distribution are manifold related.
In I feel the differences in EGTs you found in the tests was only attributable to the manifolds that had to be resulting in "specific" variation in the fuel air misture esp with respect to non WOT.

Just wondering how much variation in A:F do you think occurs between the best manifold runners and the worst to show the temperature variations and power variations you found?
