getting shocked is not normal..are all grounds good? check ground cable from battery to block, block to firewall, block to frame, and battery to fender. gm points cars should have a resistance wire from ignition switch to coil. approx. 8v. while in start mode wire from S terminal on solenoid gives 12v.
