I have had the roll on coating as well in the past and it started to lift and looked like crap in a year or so. This was probably due to prep and quality of materials. About 3 years ago I went with a heavy grade dark Grey indoor/outdoor carpeting from Home Depot. My CJ sits on it every day as I work on it. My wife drives in and out every day. We have 2 rubber mats for parking spaces on top of the carpet. This may not sound practical but it really is. I vacuum once a week and wash the mats and it still looks great. Have had a few spills/leaks from working on my CJ via trans fluid, foot traffic, and dirty parts. I simply use carpet cleaner in a spray can. It is comfy to lay on and my dogs love to lay on it and observe. I figure if it costs 350.00 every 5 years or so it is not too bad. Just a thought for you. The key is keeping it vacuumed well so things do not get ground into it. It seems very decadent to vacuum the garage floor lol. |
