| and put the volt meter on the battery,it was 12.5, and when I put the two cables together it dropped like a stone, and not as much as a click from the starter. I was hoping to get it to crank the starter so I could see any voltage drop, but it just went down to .003V when I put the wires together and right back up to 12.5 when I seperated them. I wanted to eliminate the solenoid as a possible problem, so I checked it without the starter cable on, just the battery cable, and jumped it while watching the starter side with the voltmeter and it passed the 12.5 through jumping the "s" terminal to the + post on the solenoid.
I think a load test on the battery, and pulling the starter to see if it can be energized off the car would be next if the battery checks out good. It might have a dead winding. If it was a stick you could rock it and find that out with it engaged. |
