Heart Heads

Back in the 60's and 70's some very savvy dirt track racers that we knew swore by the "heart heads' so we flogged some. They were low riser intake style but Ford is so advanced, and such great, forward looking engineers that these heads had a Yates style combustion chamber designed in the late 50's ! Several good racers would say, ''Those heads get the car up and off the corner''. They are high velocity, high quench, small volume chamber pieces that were hard to find back when.

You could port them nicely, increase the valve size and make high compression with a flat top or less dome to enhance flame propagation. They could make great torque and nice power. They do make low and mid range power for the right combo.

Any of you guys played with them? For example the C0AE 6090 D heads? What was that application again? They have a well thought out, small, heart shaped combustion chamber. The chambers resemble some of the current ultra bitchin' alloy heads. I only have one clean pair left, anybody have some cores to port and flow ?

Thanks again for a fine resource and a lot of fun !
