I put the (26K mi) 240ci 6 out of Grandpa's ragged out '70 Galaxie in a 1938 Farmall F-20. We still use it today - unbelievable "grunt" torque. Wanted to put an industrial belt-driven governor on it, but cheap-assed out and instead fabbed a fixed hand throttle that only allows about 3000rpm wide open coupled with a spring returned hand "governor" when more poop is needed. We've never broken it - those old straight-cut trannys and bull-gear drives are STRONG. Wish I had a photo of it handy to post. Randy Millard (Henrysnephew) |
