Hi, I hate posting anything other than fe stuff here but i'm at wits end trying to figure out the wifes 2001 taurus with 138K miles. I get a flashing light on the dash when at highway speed and going up hill. the code is P1744, Excessive slip detected durring full TCC engeagement (AX4S trans). Happened every day 2 or 3 times.
I was told to replace the valve body, did that and had no forward or reverse, so I put the factory valve body back in and the problem isn't as bad. Now some days it wont kick out, even in hot weather and driving aggressive. some days it goes off with no taunting and on small hills.
Cant afford a new trans, since my work is slow right now. but did get a 2nd rebuilt valve body and havent tryed it yet. I keep thinking that the valve body isn't the problem. Does a rebuilt valve body need to have the pump primed ?
Also, I did a fluid and filter change 2 years ago at 95K miles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike s.
also. I dont have internet at home right now so I cant answere any emails til monday.
