And my other prediction has now come true. That being...Penske will be just another faux Rousch/Yates satellite team when he confirmed he will lease Rousch/Yates engines, considering they are the only team assembling Ford motors for all of Ford's NASCAR teams.
I dont think the IROC series should have closed, it should have been NASCAR to close and align under IROC, since that is the direction they are going anyway...a spec racer for all.
Ticks me off. I want to see a dozen Barrys, McLains, Jet Boat Bobs, Kaase, Ernie Elliots, and Blair Patricks out there building engines and pushing the rule book to win. If one shop cranks out all the motors for a a brand, where is the competitive edge in that? IIRC Indy did the same thing on a bigger scale. Pre-built and sealed motors, just return them after the race, blown or not. The only competitive edge a team has is everything EXCEPT the motor. Like i said before, the guy that puts the most turtle wax on the nose of his car wins.
I seem to recall Dale Jarret putting half a lap on the field at Indy in 98 or so, knowing he was short on fuel. But Jarret and Parrot just wanted to prove who had the baddest mother f'n motor on the track. (the guy with the censor button wasnt fast enough) Something like that will never happen again.
