Response to oversized/hipo alternator pulley on a one wire alternator?

Possible? Absolutely. Good idea? Well that depends. The 3g on my 66 merc has a slight alignment issue that I have yet to resolve so to stop belt squeal I installed a larger pulley until I can come up with a better mounting design.

Anyway, the big ass pulley slows the alternator down so much that I get <12v at idle. Puts an unnecessary tax on the battery and lights dim until RPM's get up a bit.

The big pulley is not a long term solution for my case nor, in my opinion, a good option for a street driven car.
