actual clearance with a compressed head gasket. With a true zero deck and .036" compressed head gasket, you will most likely suffer a kiss from the pistons to the head. All FE's that I have experience with have the piston touch the heads with less than .038" clearance because of rod growth when hot. That is why most folks run the .041" gaskets to keep from this happening. Steel rods used to have a warning to make sure there is .050" combined clearance between pistons at TDC and the head when hot. Joe-JDC
