You will definately be at a weight disadvantage

That means that you will have to make more horse power to go as fast. HP to weight ratio is a big factor. The Firebird will probably have the advantage here. Not to say you can't beat him but, it will be tough.

The bow tie boys will stick one of their crappy....

engines in anything they can, including Fords. I just saw a really nice cobra replica, 427 badges and all, with a chevy small block last weekend. Just try and stick anything else in one of their precious chevys and listen to them howl. Sure would be fun to have a 427 (ford)powered 'vette!

CJRanger, now is your chance, mid year vettes have never been cheaper

October 15 2003, 7:10 PM

good 70's drivers are selling for $5k and less; you should be able to scare up one with a toasted motor for much less than that.

You could end up with a lot more plug changing room than in a Mustang. The shock value of a 390 would be great (I think most chevy guys know something is up with a 428).

But as Rozmun says below, it ain't natural.....

Half and Half ?

Reminds me of a mid-60's Vette I saw years ago at the 73 (I think) Street Machine Nats in Memphis. It was a full on ISCA "show car" but it's nicest feature was a fully chromed, tunnel rammed, "Cobra" valve covered 289 engine! I think it was called "Snake Charmer" or something like that. Wow, you should have heard the comments THAT car got! The Ford guys loved it. The Chevy guys were mortified and the Mopar guys were just glad it didn't happen to them!
My wife (then girlfriend) had a 67 Camaro. I always wanted to put an AMC 401 in it with a Torqueflite and a 9" Ford rear and see what kind of trouble I could cause.

putting a chevy motor in a ford, or even worse, aford motor in a chevy, is unnatural-It would be like sex with animals.
