Does anyone know of a source for FE dry sump oil pans and related bits. A friend has ordered a Superformance GT40 MKII and wants to install an FE.

Thanks,
Dan Jones

Dry sump system

January 23 2007, 4:06 PM

Dan are you looking for orginal? If so Dove engineering sell the orginal setup, not sure on the price. $4-5 grand would be the guess. Avivad set a updated dry sump system for around $3 grand depending on the pump and how many ports. I am going with there setup on my new motor. Mounts, brackets, drive off the crank, belt, and tank can be had as a complete kit. Rick Lake Call for John Swartz 818-998-3004

Ditto. Aviaid's the place....

unless you want a period correct set-up. Dove uses a two-piece 'pan' with the front part machined for a pair of built-in scavenge pumps run by an outside front belt drive. The pressure pump goes in the regular place.

Dry Sump

Aviaid has a pan, but steel only. Jeff Johnson has the best price on aluminum pans, use Peterson pumps, stay away from pumps with 1/2" shafts, they twist. You can use Aviaid wet sump pan if keep R's 6K or less. Johnson pan is about 750, pump 1100, plus hoses, have to make own brackets, etc will cost about 3K. If you are running A/C there might be a conflict with dry sump mounting. With a dry sump you need an oil acumulator or prime the engine each time you start it cold. If you can get around using a dry sump your life will be much easier, RWJ

RWJ---on the Johnson pan, what....

is the gauge of the aluminium? And how does one get in touch? I'm told that light weight Al pans are a great headache. Oil tank higher than the pump solves many problems! TIA

Thanks for the info guys. I'll pass it on to Mike. He intends to open track the car so I think he's looking for function before authenticity but I'll have to ask to be sure.
