Just around the block

Still not the raw power I expect but I really smoked up the block yesterday from the garage, LOL. I'm still tuning with timing and may try another carb.

Do you ever venture to the mercurycougar.net site? Lotsa Cougar nuts there. Sounds like a nice car you have. Mine's a 68 XR7 GT with a 390. Building a 452 for it that's taking forever because of slow cashflow. But getting there....LOL.

Great to hear, we'll get you lined out. What distributor are you using?

The one I did for you is not going to have enough centrifugal timing if you have to turn the initial back to less than 20°. Call me and we can talk about it. Remember too that you have the S intake and GT manifolds. About 350 hp is going to be about where you are, but the torque should be 425-430 or so and really work with your stock converter.

I am thinking your cam will like about 11° initial, and 26° centrifugal, with the vacuum advance adding another 12°. Look for a dizzy with a 13L arm with the pin there, and try it. If you want mail me the one I did and I'll fix it up for you.

A 735 CJ carb would be really sweet on there.
