First off, my 1st post and I love this forum. Many knowledgeable people willing to help!

I have a 69 Mach 1 with an original 390 with a Performer intake. I also have a complete shaker setup from a 69 CJ car. I assume no problems making this combo work as far as shaker ride height? I might have access to a 427 side oiler later. The 390 and 427 are dimensionally the same, correct? What is the best intake performance-wise for the 427 that will work with the shaker. Many thanks!!

Do a search on Jay browns dyno intake runs

I would think the best intake per your hieght requirements would be a Hollley SD(street dominator) or Edel SM(street master) The hieght of the RPM prolly wont work with the shaker. And the single planes can be gutted/ported and milled down hieght wise. The 427 is the same dimensions and would work fine.

And most important Welcome !!!!!

The performer 390 intake will work and sits just as stock does

I had one on my car. I have a blue thunder now and is probibly a better intake for your car, it sits a little higher but looks cooler too. The performer 390 is more of a truck intake.

Shaker Intakes

The factory cast iron CJ intake, the factory PI intake, the Edelbrock Streetmaster, the Edelbrock F-427, and the Blue Thunder dual plane intake will all work with the shaker, and leave the hood scoop in the factory position, although it may be a little higher than stock with some of the intakes. The Edelbrock Performer RPM may work, but that intake positions the carb back about 3/4" from the stock location, so you may have to make some adjustments to the shaker brackers and air cleaner to make that intake work.

Depending on the HP output of the engine, different intakes would be better. The Performer intake that you have isn't a great intake for a performance application, but will provide a lot of low end torque. If you're looking for around 400 HP, the Edelbrock Streetmaster is pretty tough to beat...
