It does not use gear oil. It uses auto tranny fluid.

I used GM synchromesh before at $9.00 a quart. Is mercon v ok to use.

I have a combination of Dextron/Mercon and Mopar ATF+4 in mine.

Although I will add, at this point, I wouldn't change that Synchromesh out unless you have a good reason.

I would just keep what you have in it.

"We recommend GM synchromesh part # 12345349,or Dexron III / Mercon Spec ATF fluid for all TKO transmissions."

I doubt they would be real happy of my bench mix of the bottoms of all my bottles though LOL

It's been in since April 2006, so when I get around to changing it the first time, I might be more creative

so a little mercon will be added to the existing synchromesh.
