measure the stroke by placing something down the spark plug hole and taking measurements from TDC to BDC? and if so how well did it work. trying to figure out if this is a 352 or 390 without removing the head.
It's a method i have used with sucess many times. I find TDC and mark the dipstick against an exaust port then turn it over until the stroke bottoms out, mark the dipstick again and measure the stroke. Works for me....John
Easiest method I've found is to bring #1 up to TDC, pull #1 plug and #4 plug.
1 is at TDC and #4 is at BDC. I think one of the other forum members suggested this idea awhile back and it sure works good.
a quarter of an inch between all 3 strokes, easy enough to tell with a dipstick a wooden dowel or anything else. Like I said, the stroke won't mind how it's been measured, it comes out the same anyway. Good luck...
Chop sticks .... Free at the restaurant .... great for mixing glues, etc ..... great for hanging stuff to paint, clamp one end to a shelf, hang the part on the other end .... great for pushing wires thru grommets .... and they are free ......
