Hey all. I am wondering what the RPM limits of a 390 is? The motor is a 30 over 390 with hyper pistons and arp rod and main bolts. the valvetrain is a stock hyd system that is not adjustable. The cam is 510/519 lift Rpm intake and FPA tri-y headers with 2.5" system 4spd top loader. All internals are stock. would 5000 shift point be good or should i shift sooner? Car is a land barge 64 gal.
Thanks all
Lloyd

With a hydraulic cam....

...you'll float the valves before you hurt the bottom end.

If you tell me the cam specs, I could tell you about where the hp peak would be.

I'd say from 5000 to 5200 rpm with the stock valve springs. If you go over 5500 with the stock rocker arms and shafts, it will brake a shaft and bend a push rod eventually.
