Will an FE "drop in" in place of a 330 FT?

A friend scored a very nice '66 Merc 500 with a 330FT and asked me if an FE is a direct swap in re the pulleys, exhaust etc. I remember reading - probably here , the fount of all FE/FT knowledge - that the 330 was more similar to the FE than to the bigger FTs. I haven't seen the truck because it hasn't arrived in town yet but I am told it has hydraulic brakes and (probably)no governor.

It should

The FT and FE bellhousing is the same bolt pattern on the block and the motor mounts are the same on all 65-up blocks. Only difference might be rad hose sizes and i'm not sure about the flywheel.

It isn't that simple and the answer is only "possibly"

There are three different 330's. The later ones are the 330XD that are similar to the FE. The 330 used in a 60's truck is probably a full FT and will use a front mount, has the big balancer and nothing really swaps between those and an FE easily. Hawkrod

I find it hard to beleive someone would put a 330FT into a car.

It would have had to have been the MD motor with the 352 crank, not the full on 330HD motor.
