Did Ford install any Aluminum VC's on 427's from the Factory/Dealer installed?
do you have the 66 medium riser pentroof covers or the 60 352ci 360 horse interceptor covers?

I thought that the early HiPo covers were block lettered Thunderbird.(3 pair of those)
My dad's 64 Gal runs 427/400hp? (I think, still doing the research) Marine H&M covers. Plain chrome baldy with riveted H&M tag giving valve lash etc. Dont have any pics handy, will take some next time Im there.
I was thrilled to find an H&M store at our local fashion mall!!!
Realized quickly that to TodaysKids, H&M doesnt mean Holman&Moody, it means Hennes&Mauritz $HNNMY, a european fashion retailer (say whaaaaaaa?) So, I didnt bother to go in and look for dual quad linkage.
There are good pics of blue 427/300 Marine covers on the marine chriscraft site, I dont know of any good close-ups of the rumored 427/330hp marine, 427/400hp marine, or 427/500hp marine.
Our marine tag says 8V LR so I am concluding it was approx the following:
* AA cam, 306-306 .500 .500
* LR 209-166 heads
* 8v LR intake
* Dual Marine Carter 625's ?
* Marine water cooled exhaust manifolds ?
There are some guesses in there but this is consistent with what I've seen (and havent seen) and makes just about 400hp in the Gonkulator.
Its the first hot FoMoCo I remember as a kid. My dad always put the wood to that 390/330 under the hood (to keep the carbon out) and I'd respond by bouncing up and down in the back seat so the stitching came out after only a year.
Great pics but that one caption isnt complete, it should read:
"A 427 S-55 was capable of a 15.1 second quarter at 87mph, even with a plug wire off and headed into a 20+mph headwind"
That is the only way the Gonkulator can match that slow baying hound. I've never seen a 427 run that slow and thats what I had to do to match it. Or maybe it was a 390/300 in there, that would be about right for a well tuned&driven 390/300 4spd.
I've got 2 pair of the Merc block lettered but not sure which engines they came on. Mercury only had as a base FE the 390? (no 352's)
WERBY: I've only got 1 427 300 HP marine VC but it's rusted through pretty bad. It's round top no stamping but does have a 427-300 decal.
If you have a set that are in good shape, and would be suitable for chroming, let me know. Also, if there is a chrome shop near you we can send them to, as our last chrome shop in the state closed down over a year ago.
Aloha Robert: I'll check and If I've got 3 pair I'd let 1 pair go.
I'm chroming a set of each & painting another. Merc Pentroofs; I'm painting a few different colors and already have a chrome pair thanks to TomP but they are a mismatch 1 is a 1965 & the other a 1966 so different shapes although it's hard to see.
There is a good chroming shop about 200 miles from here near Eugene Oregon.
I'll go through my boxes & see if I've got 3 pair of the Merc Block lettered..
At this time I'm only looking for Ford Factory VC pictures to see which Factory Valve covers I'm missing and need to buy.
I'll start another request on Aluminum VC's.
Chuy on HAMB is looking for a M/T finned Valve Cover without the bar under the M/T. Those are pre 1965-6 and really rare. I'd like to find a pair for him.
I have several sets, including CJ, but no pics at present. I took a pair of "lightning bolt" Mercury valve covers off a 66 Parklane, and want to have them chromed eventually, then put a pair of the Super Marauder 427 decals I got from Vintage Auto Literature. Might see if I could do the same to the block-letter Mercury covers.
The early M/T covers I've never seen except in an old M/T catalog, and wanted a set myself. I bought 2 pairs of old curved-script Edelbrock covers, and noticed there was a height difference between them, with the "427" pair being about 1/2" taller than the standard FE pair.
Only 2 sets here. One paint worthy and One Chrome ready.
I'm just sitting on them so not to worry if you really need them someday.
I'll always buy more if the price is right. I've currently go 6 pair of the Merc Pentroof but it sounds like you are focused on the Merc Block lettered.
How anout Edsel E-400 I've got 3 pair of those?
