Ok guys for 30 years I have been adjusting my solid cam the opposite of what is recommended on this forum. For instance my cam now is 18 and 20 hot, in the old days I would adjust them to 22 and 24 cold with iron head and block. Now because of the guys on this forum I am addjusting them at 12 and 14 cold, (I have aluminum heads now). I was just looking at cams from comp cams and in the solid cam section for adjusting it says that the lash gets tighter when hot, what's up on this, is this a misprint. It's 12:30 here and I have to get up at 5 so I will read feedback in morning thanks guys.

Yes, lash always grows when hot....

On an iron block/aluminum head engine, I see .006" growth in lash when hot. On an all-aluminum engine, I see about .015" growth when hot.

And to be honest, with all the factory stuff I've done (cast iron/cast iron), I've never seen lash close up when hot. It always stays the same as it was when I set it cold, or it will open a thou or so.

Set your lash cold, then run it till hot and measure the lash. Then you will know what the change is.
