Will get pics later, I have a pretty complete Mustang Shaker setup, but it may be a mismatched set. I am told a base with mounting tabs instead f a complete ring is 69 CJ? The assembly, when put together, does not seem to clock correctly? Has a 69 hood, hood seal, vacuum pot etc, just need to ID exactly what I have, correct assembly or a complete mutt lol...

I have owned 69 & 70 R code Mustangs, as well as a 70 M code 351C 4V with Sheker. Both the 69 and 70 428 Shakers have 3 small angle mounts with studs to mount the Shaker top, the 351C Shaker base has an eccentric circular flanged ring that has the 3 studs welded to the ring. The only real differance that I have seen between a 69 Shaker, and a 70, is that the 69 has a curved steel elbow welded to the base at the front, for the fresh air hose from the valve cover filler cap, while a 70 uses a plastic 90 degree elbow inside a grommet for the same purpose.

Shakers

Hi Gene,

Can you post some pic's ? There were shaker bases for Boss 302,351W,351C,390,and 428 (69 early, late, and 70 are different) and each base was different, 69 and 70 are different as well resulting in a total of 8 different bases ....

The only bases with three separate tabs instead of a ring on the top are the 390 and 428 bases. The 390 has a thin, approx. 1/8" tall spacer welded to the top edge and is really rare, so I'm guessing you don't have that. The 428 bases are both functionally the same, 69's have a metal crankcase vent elbow, 70's have a plastic elbow and a grommet. A real 70 base has an extra stamped "dent" in the base for clearance around the throttle cable/kickdown rod. That's the basics, you could write 2 pages on all the differences. As for the lids, there's 2 basic versions, but both stared life as the same stamping (the front hole(s) are different) but nothing that I know would affect the clocking of the air cleaner.

There's a TON of made up stuff out there, so a few pic's would be great...

Hope this helps, john
