Brother bought a 61 Strainer, originally not a hipo car. Now has a hipo engine, 4 speed, 2 1/2" brakes. Do we need spindles or will drums, wheel cylinders & backing plates do a upgrade to 3" brakes?
Are rest of brake parts the same?

3" Brakes

Spindles were the same. You need the 3" backing plate , top shoe & spring anchor , of coarse 3" shoes.
I am in the process of making shoe & spring anchor pins for the 3" drum set ups... I need a pair of new ones myself.

If it was my old butt riding in that old car and a great car they were but I think I'ed bite the bullet and go to Wilwood site and get a set of there 12.19 disc brakes. I dont heal as well as I use to. Besides thats to pretty a car to take a chance with.

3" Anchors

The top shoe anchor pin that is retained thru spindle. 3" shoes need the longer anchor than the 2 1/2" shoes.
