Ideas on low budget rotating upgrade for a 360?

Not keen on scouring Craigslist for beat up 390 stuff that needs machining. Are there any reasonable "stroker" kits out there for a daily driver deal? I'm thinking 9:1 or so with Edelbrock heads.

You can find good factory 428 cranks for $400 or less.

That's my vote for a budget stroker.

Some aftermarket pistons are .030 in the hole

Mill .070 off and make a 0 deck 410 ..

Use stock rods as well

I hate beating on anything more than a 390 crank these days

The 428CJs needing them for restos. How much would a 4" stroke Scat be with 2.1 rod journals? I would love to have one with a 4.094 bore, or a 4.030 stroke with the small journals, 1.36 CH Mahle's with Metric rings and some Scat I beams about 6.8 long. That would be a nice 1.7 rod to stroke ratio and light pistons with a lot of dwell at TDC, and 421 ci. It lacks a few cubes but it would make a good 390 block shine if you had a good thick one, .044 over and a 4" stroke at zero. I wonder what that rotating assembly would be for an FE, it would be great for the heads, long rods like moderate flowing heads. Do up the BBMs at 12° use my SD that already has a wide port pinch. The C6 with the Spartan 4.33s would love that engine even at 1.2 lbs ft per cube and 1.28 hp per cube, that would be a blast!

Does Scat make a 4"-4.030" stroke 2.1 rod journal crank? Do they make 6.8 I-beams at that length? I think the 445s are using 1.36 CH pistons. It would be fun and it would be nice at 5800-6300 for hp. I would use a 294S advanced to 102-104°.

I really hope Billy gets the fire in the belly to drive the car, he bought a used wood steering wheel like a 7 litre would have only universal. We have the 3" pipe and X with Flw 40's to put on it. I just want to ride in it before I die.

Where are you?

I have an extra 428 crank and rods, if you are in Northern California. It's a pain to ship though.
