Not really KR-related but I was sad to hear of the death of Mickey Finn, Marc Bolan's sidekick in the heyday of T.Rex. I was introduced to both of them at a recording of a 'Top Of The Pops' Christmas special at the BBC studios in Shepards Bush, probably late, erm, 1971 (oh so young!). Despite being overwhelmed by having shaken hands with the divine Marc I remember Mickey Finn's presence as being even more charismatic; tall, dark and good-looking with a very quiet and almost mystical aura. They both accepted my introduction with genuine good grace, with a complete absence of 'pop star' attitude, and were clearly enjoying the tremendous success they'd had that year. |
