I am a happy chappie

by (no login)

What a result. I couldn't get to waterford for the match (no car, and my lift ehm ehm fell through;) but I had the peno's live through a mobile connection. It sounded like a thriller in the RSC, people shouting, and screaming. Thats what we need. I hope this result will build the support base for the team, and get more people going to the games. Com'on the Blues, bring on the Ramblers!

It's not easy being Blue.......but I like it.

What was attendance ?
Are there many going down to Cobh
Does anybody know anybody(s) from the "pale"
region going to Cobh for the match interested in sharing a car or getting a bus if enough interest could be mustered ?

BALLBAGS

by RODNEY TROTTER (no login)

I WAS TOLD BY A MEMBER OF THE GROUNDSTAFF
THAT AN ELABORATE SWITCH TOOK PLACE ON FRIDAY
NIGHT JUST BEFORE THE GAME. ONE OF THE BALLBOYS WAS
KIDNAPPED, STRIPPED NAKED, GIVEN A LINESMANS
SUIT AND A FAKE MOUSTACHE AND TOLD TO DO THE
LINE OR THE FLAG WOULD BE SHOVED UP HIS HOOP.
A BALLBOY RESEMBLING EDDIE FOLEY WAS SEEN RUNNING
AFTER FOOTBALLS ON THE RUNNING TRACK ALL NIGHT.
THIS INCIDENT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE GARDAI.

by Blues till I die (no login)

You have some cheek coming here robbing our jobs
and then bad mouthing our football team. Remind me again when was the last time the boezz won a trophy?I hope we get you tossers 4 the semi-final of the cup. Talking about paltry attendances? 2,500 at the supposedly biggest derby in Ireland, a game that was as good as being at home 4 Bohs. We'd get that against UCD probably. And if we were in Bohs position in the premier we'd get twice the support ye get easy. Go get yourself a job in Phibsborough you tramp.

Future Fans

by Blue Blooded (no login)

It was a good suggestion about getting young fans in free for this replay, it could be the beginning of a welcome new fan base for the future.
Remember all the youngsters who used to "infiltrate" over in the old Kilcohan Park days ? some or maybe many are now the regulars at the RSC.
Rural young lads and girls should be coaxed down there too, far more assidiously than they are. Apart from Man.Utd and Leeds et al. the GAA have been really active among the county schools and clubs. The "National Games" are still better received than Association Football and even Rugby has also begun coaching schemes in the rural schools.

Pack the RSC for the replay

by No login (no login)

Now that Cobh suprisingly beat Athlone in the cup,the blues have a great chance of making the cup semi finals. What an achievement that would be so its its vital we get everyone down for the replay tuesday week to support the lads.Tell neighbours friends family so we can hopefully bring back the memories of '97 and create the atmosphere which was something else in Bellfield last sunday

Can the club do anything in the line of reduced ticket prices for the game? Go out to the schools and clubs and give away tickets? This is the big chance - it would cost a few pounds now but a further run in the cup would recoup surely!

Re Future Fans

by Blue Blooded (no login)

A good idea from Blues Fan re. re-play tickets at RSC
The club should do as much as possible to get youngsters in the groove of attending , even if it does cost a bit at first (Remember the dozens of young lads who used to "infiltrate" over in old Kilcohan Park, they are probably some of to-days regulars at the RSC.
Also the young people around the county need to be "courted" much more assiduously nowadays. Apart from Leeds and Manchester Utd the GAA seem to have been really active out in the rural county. Soccer is not as well received still as the "National Games" are.

No drinking in UCD student club

by Dr Blue (no login)

The student bar in UCD dosen't open on Sundays so there will be no cheap drink available. The options are 1. the sports bar in the sports centre on the other side of the campus (great pint of Guinness)(10-min walk to Belfield Park), or 2. the Montrose bar on the other side of the dual carridgeway (5 min walk to belfield park), but they may not be too happy to see a bunch of football hooligans.

This fanzine is improving every time it's published. The official programme is pure shite and is basically an ego trip for Paul Heylin. Did ye all enjoy the fascinating transcript from the Radio Kerry interview with Mick O Dwyer? Thought not.Write something interesting please Mr. Heylin.
