WLR

by The Scout (no login)

It appears our local radio station are not broadcasting the replay live. Matt keane will bring updates throughout the game of any goals. Why do the game live at the RSC and not the away one?? Seems stupid to me. We could all get to the RSC but it is impossible to get off work to go to Dublin for a game at 2pm. Isn't that the whole reason for local radio? Ridiculous!!!

Who's to blame?

by Wandering Blue (no login)

The club seem to be so unorgainsed its ureal. No Cup replay date set, very little advertising of FAI Cup match and then on night no one could hear man muttering pa system and no music as team came out of tunnel.
But who is to blame for the clubs downfall in recent years? maybe we should blame the row which broke the club when we just won promotion to the Premier Division under Tommy Lynch. the directors at the time saw two different ways to go, and split the board. David Flynn, John o'Driscoll, paul Cooke, michael Finnegan, Bertie Rogers, Bob Tweedy john delaney and Sean ???, were all invovled and had built up a good base. Then a stupid fight started and the board were split? Maybe its time for all to get together again and act as adults, and try to help the blues to greatness once again.

Wednesday 2pm. Why?

by Wandering blue (no login)

Firstly, A replya date should have been sorted out in advance and details in the middle of the programme as in all other years and all other FAI Cup matches nationwide. It is again a total farce from our Directors no idea or orgainisation.
Seemingly we tried to have replay on Sunday but St. Francis said no. Then Wednesday at 2pm was the outcome. What is the reason for this? 1)FAI, dopes have no idea. 2)St. Francis, know that Waterford will struggle with a 2pm kick off with players working etc.
3)Eircom park, if the game goes ahead on wednesday night and Baldonnel Airport object to night games in Eircom park then the FAI can say that St. Francis played midweek night games and no problems occured.
The main point again here though is the fans how are we expected to travel to Dublin. It means taking a days holidays from work, while a half day would have done for a night kick off.
Problems on and off the pitch seem to be getting worse as the season goes on. Please we need some help?

Fai Arseholes

by Fed up Blues Fan (no login)

I think we will be without a number of players
As A) They'll be taken no pay from Work
B) The Club can't pay them either

Also I was in John Hyland Park the night the
blues drew up there on Halloween and they had
the floodlights on so why the sudden change ?

Floodlights

by The Scout (no login)

With the Bord Pleanala hearing into Eircom Park due, it appears that the chief objector (Aer Corps, aka Bertie)lodged an objection against the floodlights at JHP in recent weeks, claiming that one of their pilots tried to land there in a helicopter when the lights were on!! Goes to show you what kind of aer corps we have!!

As for the replay mix-up there wasn't a date for replays issued from the FAI up to Friday evening at 6pm. The only rule was that it had to be fixed for sometime dring the next week. Waterford did try for next Sunday but St. Francis have a league match against Hoem Farm.

Don't blame Finegan

by Anoymous (no login)

Thats bullshit blaming Finegan. This cash crisis is still an after affect from the Flanagan era when he threw it around like confetti.Lets get behind the club because we all want the one thing-success.Why dont you do your bit for the club and raise some cash for the club and sell lotto tickets or something instead of maoning about the mess we're in.Whats new eh? We know we're in a mess.Lets just make sure we get through it or we'll lose the club and our precious discussion page will be extinct.Be positive and as Stinger says "keep the faith".Come on blues!!!!!

Me get off me arse ...

by Fed Up Blues Fan (no login)

Why I'm already involved in the club, I do in
fact do me bit.

The reason I blame Finnegan is that the man has
never fuckin once put his hand up and said yes
I've made a mistake, he couldn't tell the players
the other night he left to PP. He hasn't a spine
in his body.

He will blame all around him for failure but will
not accept any responsibilty. It's time the Top end
of the club got off it's arse and stopped living off
the loyal fans and made a proper commercial plan for this club and not living off Donations.

Vinny,
I have two season tickets, so I always bring
some one, if I don't go myself I get two mates to
go so some one gets use of the tickets and maybe
they'll in turn want to go some other night.

This thread was only to point out the fact(s) that
we now are offically not paying players and that we've
got a spineless bastard of a chairman.

by Partizan (no login)

Bravo..Look I'm a fan. I go out to every home game. I pay my admission price, buy the program and in doing so I'm helping the club, by paying of wages etc. Nobody dare tell me that I just sit back and moan and do nothing. Ok I'm not a director with a heap of money.
But fact is money has been squandered and Michael Finnegan should get the blame for that. There are no proper structures there, and its no wonder that business people will not put the money in because the wrong people are running the club.

Kirby is gone to Cork

by Anoymous (no login)

Kirby has gone to Cork today to discuss the move after been fed up at Waterford's dying promotion challenge.I can reliably inform you that ex-blue Mick Devine recommended Kirby to Mountfield in a bid to ease their mid season slump.I think waterford are F****D. what are we going to do?

Kirby! no don't go

by Wandering Blue (no login)

This would be some New year present for the Blues fans. It's a disater if Alan leaves. So much for PP trying to build a squad for promotion next season. kirby is our main man and we can not afford to lose him especially to Cork city. We know the club are in finanical difficulty but this is not the way forward. If we continue to sell our best players we will never get back into the premier league, never mind Europe.

I hope he stays with us but he's a class player and definitely good enough for Premier Division. We can't afford to lose him as without him any chances of promotion are gone. The club in their current position will probably take the money but I would prefer him to stay.

Lads
Point 1) Kirby has been talking ('allegedly') with
Cork since well before Devine moved
Point 2) Talks are one thing, actually doing something
is a different story.
Point 3) So lads in fairness Kirby is still wearing the blue jersey and as far as I know always will.

Summer soccer

by Trev (no login)

Of course soccer should be played in the summer. The weather would be better, leading to better crowds, better football and more money for the clubs. Only the hardcore fans will turn up on a wet or freezing night in December to see a National League game and we need more casual fans, like me, to go along. The advatages of summer soccer are more than the disadvantages so why not try it for two seasons. The junior leagues should do the same as well. I'm sure the players and fans would support it.

Waterford United going nowhere..

by Partizan (no login)

Just that the recent events for example the board finally admitting that they are in the red. as well as that no structure or youth policy has been put in place. I hear Mick McCabe is coming back to try and implement the Norwegian style plan in Waterford F.C. but the Club or business community seem to be interested in making Waterford a force in Irish soccer again. What a sad indicment of our town that nobody gives a fuck about our team. We just all are patheic armchair fans following the crap English premiership. Douglas Hyde was right when he said that the Irish "were an nation of imitators, and the Japanese of Europe". Why dont we all wave our fucking Union Jacks and invite the HUns back in. I'm fed up of Irish people shouting for English teams and English players. Its time we looked after our own first eh!.

If nothing is done the sleeping giant that is Waterford
will slumber forever.

Blues going in right direction

by Wandering blue (no login)

Firstly our name is Waterford United FC, secondly our new manger is finding his feet in the national League, before he was just mangaing a Junior club and coaching he is now having to deal with players contracts, wages, work hours etc... PP is currently developing a youth set up only this week he is running a coaching session for the best under 14's in Waterrord city. Lets give him a chance as he said himself "I have no magic wand". On the finanical front so we are in debt, but when was the last time we were in the black, Ten fifteen years ago? We will remain in the red as long as we have no ground, where we can operate as a commerical venture.
Their is a small interest in the business community but that it. we have about 800 hardcore fans now lets face reality. Now this is our lot lets work with it.

English Scum

by Anonymous (no login)

Its no wonder that people dont give a damm anymore. 6 to 5 years ago there was great goodwill in the city and people supported the club with passion. Then backed by the board 2 englishmen came in and destroyed everything. Telling people where to sit, telling them how loud they could shout, telling them what to shout. Then they decided to run about 3 different schemes to take money from people. And because people loved the club so much they gave there hard earned money only to be told in 1999 that it had all been squandered.

Fact you cannot keep expecting the business communitty and loyal fans to keep throwing money away.

Its true what you said about armchair fans following English clubs, its an absolute disgrace. People claim to be Irish but yet lick the boots of ENGLAND when it comes to football.

Its about time those who are only in the club for a bit of status fucked off and left the club to be run by people who really care. 300 people who really love and support the club would be better than 900 who are there to critise.
