"His Shining Season" by Ursula
is from a fandom I've never heard
of before (Jake and the Kid), but
I'm SO glad I took the time to read
it. You don't need to be familiar with
the fandom to enjoy this lovely story.
In the years just after WWII, A lost young
veteran who drifts into a small town finds
a place on the local baseball team and in
the owners heart. The main character,
Tony Edwards, is played by Nick Lea (Alex
Krycek on the X-Files.) Go read!
