has anyone here themselves, or know anybody who has, been asked specifically to wear spurs in the stage 3 exam? wot is the likelihood of having to wear them?

Unlikely that they will ASK you to wear rhem (send an email to Jeremy Michaels to clarify?).
If you choose to wear them, make sure you're good with them. You're more likely to be pulled down for wearing them and using them badly, than for saying afterwards - If I rode him again, I'd try him in spurs, but I like to see how a horse goes without them, first' or something.
