Back ground :I have C.F.S ( its like ME) and have been unable to go to school for about 15 months. I have recently given up home tutoring because i found it too tiring and stressfull and it was not helping with my recovery.
However, I do not wish to give up everything as I don't want my brain to switch off so was thinking about takin some kind of horse exam. I have been around horses since i was 4. I am a novice rider but can do the basics ( walk, trot, canter, jump circles serpentines-(sp!) etc) and have helped with young horses. I have shared horses, having main responsibity for schooling and care but having another person who checked that i wasn't messing up too badly!
I am looking to take an exam with little or no practicle. I am thinking that the bhs horse owners cirtificates look like the best bet. Anyone got any other ideas? Or anyone who has taken the exam can they say what it was like etc. please!
Sorry its so long!Thanks

If you find out anymore about the BHS Horse Owners certificates please let me know!! I am looking into running these courses as of next summer, and sent off for the info pack, but it does not state within it who is eligible to take the certificates. All it says is that they are suitable for novice horse owners or parents of horse owners, which suggests to me that there may be an age restriction on the exams (I really should find out!! Will get back to you if nobody else does!).
Other ideas for exams are BHS progressive riding tests, Pony Club tests (perhaps you could do these at a BHS school that is also a PC centre, as there are quite a few around now, and certain PC tests give you direct access to BHS Stage 2/3 when you are old enough), or ABRS exams at an ABRS approved school.
Good luck, hope you find something that suits you!
