Hi,
Just be reading the posts on here and have found them to be very interesting and useful so I will be popping back regularly!! I'd be really interested to hear from people who are training for, or have passed their stage 2, as I am hoping to take it soonish!! I'm only training part time so its been reassurring to hear that others are doing the stages that way too!!

Hi Liz , and welcome. ( thanx 4 signing my Guestbook BTW )
As youve probably guessed if youve read the past posts , I passed my 2 some time ago ,'training from home'.
It is a major step from the Stage 1 , but I found the hardest part was my own nerves ! ( esp. when it came to jumping a strange horse around a strange course !).
I didn't pass first time , BUT when I retook the exam , I knew that my initial anxiety was unfounded and it was a lot easier.
I'm now retaking my PTT in March , and as with the 2 , know that I have the ability / knowledge to pass , so am keeping my hooves crossed that it all goes well on the day.
Good luck , and let us know how you get on when you decide to take the 2.
Jonathan.

I'm hoping to sit my stage 2 mid-feb, and if all goes well i was going to book my PTT for the end of april... but i'm starting to wonder about this and if it will be possible/realistic considering i haven't done any PTT training yet and after reading other peoples experiences on here!!
Good luck Jonathon with your PTT, and to everyone sitting exams!

Stage 2

Lis,

I did my Stage 2 a couple of years ago and despite being bucked off in the jumping phase (the horse did not like whips!) I still managed to pass. My advice for you is to practice lunging as this was an area the judges tended to pick on. You dont't have to use side reins (one less thing to worry about) however I practised almost every day for three weeks prior to the exam before work (my horse was exhausted!) so it looked fairly natural on the day.

Good luck on the day and remember, the judges really do want to pass people!

Hiah! Congrats on getting your 2! I took my 3 a couple of years ago and fell off in the XC part of it but still managed to pass - JUST!! Just get as much experience riding as many different types of horses as possible, that way what ever you get to ride on the day you have more chance of getting a tune out of it! Good luck!! Oh and swot up on your biology for the stable management!!
