what about Whalcott (great potential) instead of Bent (great form)?

I'm not a huge Defoe fan but I'd rather he was potentially going than Andy Johnson (who is a good player and was screwed by sven when forced to play wide right on his debut)

Am just frustrated, the conference is quiet, why not have a bit of england banter?

Hey why not take Walcott, quite frankly I trust Aresene Wenger sjudgement on players. He could be brilliant.

Bit weird taking Lennon, a right winger, one spot in the team that'll never be up for grabs.

Defoe is shot of confidence I think. Gut feeling is one striker too few (esp given the injury situation) and maybe one midfielder too many (think Jenas and Hargreaves are lucky to BOTH be in the squad, would've taken one or tother). Not sure what the fuss is about Bent not being there though. One good season a world cup winner does not make.

In fairness, there was a space there up for grabs but none of the Beatties, Bents, Vassells have really made an irresistabl ecase for inclusiom.

I thik Lucas and Olly could've been worht a spot on standby though (oh I would've taken Bob Fowler if he ahd gone to Liverpool about a month earlier).

As for Bent or the striker situation, Bent may not win a world cup, but he is fit, he's not injured, he's got plenty of u21 experience, he's scored some great goals, he's young and he's in good form. Whereas Whalcott could be great but has not even played for the u21's. has no experience, no form (except in training and reserves), etc.

It must be diheartening to play well for two seasons and be on the fringes to miss out to a lad who has done very little.

Besides young star of the tournament is bound to be Freddie Adu!
