Unofficial Apology

Hi,

Having just returned from the game, I am writing to apologise about what went on this evening. 99% of the FC people there paid money over the turnstile, bought food, programmes, raffle tickets - all helping Alty.

Please don't tar us all with the same brush coz half a dozen d**kheads decide to act "hard" with some kids. I'm sure it'll get sorted - we've had "issues" before and those involved have been informed in no uncertain terms that their support isn't needed.

Unfortunately, we are going to get a larger share of village idiots following us at this level given our profile.

Obviously it's quite soon after, and one person on here has used the incident to unleash a quite unfair tirade against the club. As I said - please don't lump us in the same bracket.

Mike

your club will suffer

Mike, to me it was quite clear that at least one bloke is well known to FCUM and if supporters are serious about getting the club on to a higher level they need to get rid of them before it gets a hold big time, your club will suffer.

The is actually quite well thought out and accurate. I might be tempted to take some of it back if FCUM show themselves to be concerned about the problem. Those involved were arrested and your photographer was taking pictures of the main protagonist at the pitch at half time so he'll be easy to find. IF, IF you're bothered you can ban these rats from all affiliated football grounds in the country. Moss Lane is one and so is Gigg Lane, however I think you'll sweep it under the carpet so as not to tarnish the fairytale.

I see already some on your forum think it was nothing and all over before it had started etc. Well, it depends what you think is an incident, does it need a 2 hour Israeli/Hezbollah esque battle for 3 hours before it is stamped out.

FCUM know who they are, if FCUM have any right to exist as a fans club rather than something for reds to do while Man Utd go through a rebuilding (i.e. lack of trophys) period before going back to OT for the next title, they can prove it by doing this.

And I haven't been unfair, I've taken into account that there was provocation at your match v Flint when you had trouble there last week. There was no such provocation last night and I hope its not our young fans put off attending matches

please forward this view to our club...the board is approachable, it may be better coming from an opposing supporter to reflect the impartial view of yourself, rather than those who are biased.

our problem is that many of our support has been to united home and away for many years and are not used to football at this level. they are comparing the incident to the heydays of the 80's and 90's. violence is violence no matter if one on one or 50 on 50 and it has no place at football.

i really hope it doesnt get swept under the carpet too

Well, that's the crux of the matter James. It may seem as if I was unfair in my orignal posting but the impression given by FCUM can go 2 ways.

It can either be a supporters club in the manner that I think it was set up for, for United fans who are sick of the corporates, want a nice relaxed atmosphere (u could tone down some of the glazer songs btw) and all that stuff that you go on about. Also, ecellent work about Bhopal, Jamie Turner etc

OR

you can give the impression it's a thing for people who are either banned from OT and don't know how to behave to go and relive the 70s as part of a bandwagon getting studpidly pissed and kicking off. Remember the reason most of the country hates ManU isn't jealously its memories of when you used to go mobbin an a robbin round provincial towns/cities under cover of large numbers.

If the club is the former it will sort this out. If it thinks its the latter and doesn't then it will only give the impression of bullies having a ride on the back of Man Utd, dare I say it being as much of a franchise as you protest against, and you'll drift back to OT when the good times return.

I just can't believe that FCUM fans would tolerate a group like that, hitting 13yr olds in shirts I mean FFS!
It's a good job that Altrincham fans are sensible and not interested in that nonsense and that the clubs responds adequately and quickly with its stewarding process.

I'D LIKE TO RE-ITERATE AGAIN, YOUNG ALTY FANS THIS IS NOT A REGULAR OCCURANCE AND MOSS LANE IS A FANTASTIC PLACE TO WATCH GOOD VALUE FAMILY ORIENTATED FOOTBALL IN A PLEASANT ATMOSPHERE IN SAFETY.

Will FCUM care about any potential youngsters who amy not return to Moss Lane or just sweep it and look forward to the Wimbledon game. We shall see.

And yes I will be forwarding a letter to FCUM
