Oh dear, it would seem that this imaginary club is losing sight of itself.

I'm glad i wasn't there. considered going but didnt want to be part of the curious few who turned up to see what this ramshackle club is all about. I'm glad i missed it now, seems like a few idiots are ruining it for all the other idiots.

This is very annoying for our club, we could have lost valuable young supporters because of this. if people see violence at friendlies, they'll expect full on war at league and cup games. I've watched Alty all over the country and experienced some hostile receptions, but even the biggest idiots have some ammount of respect.

I will be expecting Alty to cancel the use of moss lane for trafford v fscum game in september.

IDIOTS!

Apologies

July 20 2006, 9:43 AM

I was digusted by the behavior of the K**bheads who associated themselves with Fc united last night. The incident is being dealt with by the club, but for me it ruined a very good game of football.

A very entertaining game, even worth a giggle at our embarrasingly fat keeper phil melville for the third goal.

unfortunately its always the minority who spoil it for the majority. Im not sure if you will have heard the chant after,

"we not here for aggro, were here for FC" i was simply embarrassed after what happened last night, its going to ruin all the clubs good work not only last night but also over the last year. As mike nixon said please dont tar us all with the same brush, as the 800 or so Fc supporters (more than i thought there would be) there last night were in good voice. and very good natured.

good luck for the season, im sure once your back 4 has got more match practic you will be a good outfit next season.

Re: Apologies

Are FC United games normally segregated? Probably not as the number of rival supporters in NWCL is minimal. The only similar game I can think of in FC's history was the pre-season match at Stalybridge last year with a significantly bigger crowd but there was a significant police presence by all accounts.

They appear to have a persistant problem of fans bringing alcohol into the ground and it's probably fair to say that that is the attraction for some people. From what i've read on their message board in the past some people have stated that it's "just like the old days". They need to arrange their own stewarding pretty damn quick and take some responsibility for their own actions or they'll not be wanted anywhere.

Re: Apologies

I was surprised before the game at the number of people gathered outside the off-licence opposite the ground already the worse for wear. Even when we've entertained big sides of York, Exeter etc, I've never seen so many people so drunk before and during a match.

I also found many of their fans to be extremely rude. I'm female (and quite small!) and as I was about to go through the turnstile, about 6 bare-chested, tattooed, drunk FCUM fans pushed passed me, so much so I was pushed off the kerb. I was a little disappointed that the stewards standing outside the ground admitted them, especially as they were openly carrying cans of beer.

Tragic

July 20 2006, 12:26 PM

Was a real shame, so many empty beer cans on the floor, a mate of mine brought his kids for the first time, they all love footie, they'r local, etc, but I looked over at 65 minutes and they'd all left. The atmosphere from the FCUM yobs was grotesgue. A bunch of muppets. Am glad we won't meet them again for another three or four years, by which time all the fans will probably been in nick for armed robbery ;)

But seriously, it was a shame, some of their support were quite pleasent but with the drunks, the fighters and the swearers there were far too many idiots, Still thanks for the money.

Disgrace

July 20 2006, 12:57 PM

At the start of the match I was very impressed with the support from FCUM. In fact I was stongly thinking about perhaps watching a few games this season, and certainly coming to Moss Lane to see the match against Trafford.

After 65 mins my impressions of FCUM totally changed.

I now have no respect for the club or their fans. Mention has been made about not tarring all FCUM fans with the same brush. This is a far comment. However every single fan to every match is an ambassador to their respect club.

People may say it was an isolated incident. Tell that to the 12-16 years old who were targeted by the yobs. Tell that to the parents of those Alty fans.

Even their own fans webpage refers to the incident as "alleged". Perhaps a strong degree of denial???

Come on FCUM face the music, sort out your fan base, self regulate yourselves and dont come back until all this is done.

To those FCUM fans who are proper football supporters I am sorry your teams has these mindless idiots who think it is big to punch, kick and headbutt young defenseless people.

Lock them up and throw away the key.

Re: Disgrace

I agree completely with every supporter is an abassador for the club, hence my embarassment at what happened. the fact that 5/10 idiots have ruined it for the other 800 who were having good natured banter with the home support.

self policing is something we are trying to install and i have personally recommended FC stewards, so we can recognise the potential trouble makers straight away and point them out so to say. It was embarassing but unfortunately with the lack of policing at these games, some idiots are beginning to take liberties.

but bear with us, im sure we will get it right eventually, there are always going to be teething problems and as our fan base is still growing, plus bear in mind that most fanbases and behavior is usually a father to son thing. We have a 3000 average home attendance though, i anticipate that dropping now the novelty is wearing off.

you as a club are much more experience in this, and recommendations im sure will be gratefully recieved. i cant guarantee it wont happen again, We all know the effects of alcohol, heat and football. i just hope and pray it doesnt leed to the downfall of the football club.

once again thanks for your hospitality last night, a proper old fashioned football ground and team, with good supporters. Violence and intimidation has no place in football. i hope we will work to erradicate it as soon as possible.

if not you may get a few FC supporters coming to you lot in the near future...

Re: Disgrace

Utter nonsense. Your club was set up by Manchester United fans who must remember the bad old days. MUFC had to work very hard to clean up its reputation to the extent that younger fans will have no knowledge of the problems of the past. I used to go to school with people who only went for the fighting. Some of these types have crawled out from under their stone to support FC and it appears there is still a high level of denial about it within the club. You've had a year to sort out the drinking on the terraces and you've done nothing. Why people were allowed in with alcohol last night I have no idea. As for a growing fanbase, this time last year you had over 2000 at your pre-season games due to it all being very new and exciting. This season so far about 1100 at Radcliffe and you brought about 1000 last night (assuming the normal 300 or so for an Alty pre-season game). Sounds like your bandwagon is slowing down.

Re: Disgrace

We dont drink on the terraces at Gigg Lane, yes there will be some old timers who were involved in the violence heyday of the 70's and 80's. but only a very small few. This is only the third incident i can think of (ive been to 90% of games home and away). The drinking on the terraces has been allowed at most away games for some reason, not sure why, but when nothing is said by a host club why would anyone stop.

in hindsight now it might be wise to stop the drinking on the terraces, but we have only had one other drink related problem at FC and that was at Leigh RMI. 3000 supporters and only 3 problems in a year isnt a bad start, no its not perfect. but we are still as a club and supporters on one hell of a learning curve!

Last Nights 'events'

July 20 2006, 4:11 PM

Firstly can I take this opportunity to praise the Stewarding staff for their response last night.

All of the staff are volunteers and are not there to do what some did last night (put their bodies and personal safety on the line)

re the issue of Alcohol there were search teams outside all turnstiles last night and you really would not believe the amount of Alcohol which did NOT find its way in last night as a result of the diligence of the Stewards. I know that one bottle or can getting in is one too many but it really is impossible to stop it all - believe me we've tried

Again may I complement the Altrincham fans for their behaviour in the face of some extreme provocation - exemplary in my view.

As for FCUM fixtures I feel sure that there will be some discussion of this matter at board level and, in fact I have been asked to write a report with recommendations to the Board on this very subject.

Again thanks

Phil

From what i've read on FCUM discussion board it's apparent where many of their fans have their heads so no surprise they've got the capacity to smuggle a can.
