Defence... again!

Ok, I'm really starting to get concerned about our defence. Band and the chap who was at left back looked ok last night, but the other 2 (talbot & Aspinall) had poor games. I know they've only been friendlies but I'm increasingly worried by how fragile our defence is looking. All we need is to face a forward with a bit of pace and we're going to struggle.

< praying for a cheap-yet-good defender to land at Alty HQ >

I agree...

I'm not too fussed by Aspinall tho, I think he's steady enough and we need a bit of composure on the ball back there. You're not the only one concerned.

I'm a bit worried about Bandy as well, I know he's game but already been done a couple of times pre season, I've seen milk turn quicker actually. I looked last season and thought at times he didn't get tight enough or was nasty enough. He has done well for us but I think people are now inking him in as 1st naem on the sheet in comparison to how desperate we are.

I think if we had a decent defence he's be a 3rd choice centre half but that's a bit obvious isn't it. Anyway, he needs a quick partner and quick! (not sure how fast Mrs Band is post baby :) )

A Bit Harsh

To say 'You've seen milk turn quicker than Band' when only 3 months ago he was voted player of the season in three different polls. Yes he did get turned a couple of times but he won't be playing that quality of forward week in week out (especially someone of Sturridge's class). I think the backbone of team looks fine ie Coburn, Band, Bushall and Little, but yes, like most if not all teams, a bit more quality would not go amiss.

Possibly..

I was thinking more of him being outpaced in the FCUM game. Bandy qualities are his stamina and commitment, the point is he's having to be a rather quick all action defender because of what's around him, and that's not entirely his game, I think he would admit he's not a sharp turner and sprinter. But yes at times last season we'd have been lost without Bandy. It would be nice to see him with a good solid partner but I know that's not the world the club is currently in.

just get rid

instead of trying to dribble out of a situation like what happened for 2 of their goals last night it would be simpler to put the ball out of play and out of immediate danger as their defenders did on occasions. When in doubt kick the ball out.
