Just got a text from someone at the meeting. It seems that Chris Adams has been released. I expect this to cause some traffic on the forum so get ready for the adverts again!!
I assume that there will be more news later but I'm off home now
Been a good asset to the club, great lad, 100% every time he played but with him constantly playing through the pain barrier it was getting no easier for him each week.
Chris has given great service to the club and undoubtedly played whilst carrying an injury on many occasions when it would have been advisable to have sat in the main stand to recuperate.
No doubting his commitment or character but, in my view, the Conference was just one league too high for him.

2 defenders down on last year

I'm sure GH knows better than me but releasing two defenders and signing mainly midfield / forwards looks odd. Do we have youth players or reserves coming through? Are there rumours of anyone coming in?
Heathcote has surely proven that players aren't just here for nostalgia. Not a huge fan of Adams, but he was left-sided, would expect Heathcote to have a plan in place for a new signing.
Defence is a bit worrying and am confused why Maddox and Adams were released but Talbot got another year. Is it to do with money and wages? I kind of understand Adams as his injuries never stopped last year. And Maddox did look shaky at times, but what about the grand old Talbot. Far too slow???
If GH is removing the injury problems Pottsy better watch out. A fit pottsy is superb an unfit one is ok for 30 minutes and awful for the rest of the time. Especially with the wide players GH has brought in.
Agree about Pottsy. I know he's coming back from an op(?) but did anyone see how unfit he looked before the Man City game. Scotty was racing round the pitch, yet Pottsy managed 1 lap and then looked if he was going to collapse! ;) I'd love him to stay but he really needs to lose a few pounds and get himself fit.
Obviously my (individual) perception on life doesn't tie in with yours.
I wasn't expecting pages and pages and the reference to adverts was slightly tongue in cheek.
As has been said Chris has been a stalwart of recent times and I just thought that him being a local lad when combined with his length of service and popularity might elicit some comment and response from the fanbase.......................it seems, at present, that this is not the case, maybe Tuesday???????????????????????
Sorry to see Chris go and I have been disappointed to hear totally unwarranted criticism of a lad who gave 100% to Alty both on the pitch and at all the race nights and other functions (any excuse to undo his trousers with a bottle of bud in his teeth).
A left back who was to my mind perfectly up for Conference football and never mesed about with the ball...if he couldn't find a team mate he could always find row z of the Carole Nash stand.
As for Talbs staying i'm pleased as it proves our youth policy is finally producing quality home grown talent for the future...Gary is really only 22 (all the rumours of him being a slow 38 year old are just a rouse to lull the opposition into a false sense of security).
