Hello everyone, I need some info regarding the altrincham hating macc since 1903 flag, does it ever get shown at your games and if so, do you ever get threats to take it down or you will be thrown out? I ask due to the bully boy tactics at Old trafford in the fight against glazer and i wonder if they have a case against any flags with hate on them being deemed offensive.

If you see me as being nosey and tell me to do one i will understand but would be interested to know that's all.

Surely different circumstances?

Before they were taken down for being a 'fire hazard' you had that flag that took the piss out of City hung on the Stretford End and that old 'Boris for PM' one mocking the mickeys. A flag hung up at your ground absuing your hated local rivals is fine I think (if with the word hate in the flag) but if we were to hang up stuff at Moss Lane about our Chairman/owner, I would expect it to be taken down right away. Same with Glazer I'd assume.

true i guess, but whatever happened to our freedom of speech these days? I mean we can sing in the faces of scousers, city and leeds that we hate them, but yet throw glazer in the song and your ejected, it's not like someone is gonna take a sniper rifle into the ground or anything, just to show displeasure of their connection with the club. I mean if someone was in charge of Alty and you didn't like them, what are you supposed to do, just keep quiet while he rubs your noses in it and takes you for a ride for your devotion to your club that he doesn't give a s%#t about?

The Hating Macc flag is purely a tongue in cheek humorous fun poke at our friends in the foothills. Altrincham fans have the utmost respect for Macclesfield Town and applaud their achievements over the last few years.

Not the same as wishing someone dead.

Thats My Flag - to answer your question ...

August 10 2006, 6:42 PM

To answer your question I have only had one arguement about having it displayed and that was at Southport where a Steward said that it would not be allowed to be put up in the Football League as its could start a riot and it was indeed the 'hate' word that could cause offence !!!, I calmly told the man that neither of our teams are in the Football League so lets not worry about it

Trust me I had other much worse ideas so I picked a conservative one in the end.

Just goes to show how picky some stewards are, some will let you others get on their high horse about it. The message behind our flags are simple, we love united but hate the idea of the glazer family owning a club they truly have no interest about from bleeding it dry of money. Yes I know about all the stuff you sold yourselves into this by going on the stock exchange, but the end of the day, I and quite a few others are not just standing against this family for our club, it's the emphasis of these money sharks not giving too ****s about feelings as football fans and what our clubs mean to us and only see ruble signs, pound signs and dollar signs etc.

The end of the day, if fans are gonna just sit back and be quiet and continue to see players wages rising every other month when they sign improved deals because they 3 good games, clubs not selling players as much and lots going on frees, then ultimately where does the money come from, US! fans that's where, our loyalty is being abused and that's why I'm making a stand against that type of football ownership, the sooner more fans have shares in their clubs the safer the game will be.
Sorry for writing war and peace, but when you're passionate as i'm sure you are too, you just can't help yourself. Anyway thanks to your responses for my question and hope Alty never gets in a situation united is in.

Cheers Al

Situation Manchester United are in ??? We WISH.

August 11 2006, 7:17 PM

Try almost going bust twice, not knowing what league you were going to play in, having historial debts plus the lowest wage budget in the league.

Let me see, now if Altrincham had just spent over 20million pounds on a player, extended the ground to over 70,000 and have sold over 60,000 season tickets would I be moaning ??? let me think !!!
