Well they can't sing for Steve Torpey anymore.

Crowd there today was 1643 I believe. Allowing for the fact that this was an "away" game for them and season ticket holders would pay, with Big United playing this afternoon I think that's an fair indication of their core support. Interest is fading wouldn't you say?

As usual, a balanced view by UC. A chip on both shoulders.

What's Alty's average attendance again?

Interest is fading I agree. I know that most NWCL clubs are thinking about playing at their own grounds as it isn't worth switching.

I reckon two years and they are gone

Whooosh......

I think you've just missed the point of FCUM. If you've not got it by now, you're never going to get it. FCUM is not anti Man Utd, it's anti-Glazer so enough of this diatribe and let this thread die.

its not that people thinks that they are anti united, they are just nothing to do with them, THEY ARE A NEW TEAM, so stop banging your drum about glazer. Banned from old trafford are you?

Congratulations on also missing the point. 99.9% of FCUM fans supported United - that's a ****ing big link if you ask me! A lot of people who have watched Man Utd for over 30 years made a gut-wrenching decision to not step inside OT again, dismayed by the way the professional game has gone. These people still follow United but have vowed not to put any more money into the club - they have NOT abandoned United completely, so the songs about United icons (Cantona, Best etc) are the one remaining link to the 'good old days'.

As time goes by and FCUM build their own history, the Manchester United references will (rightly) begin to diminish and the songs will be about FCUM rather than MUFC.

Nice attempt at a joke with the banned bit by the way. I see what you did there. Well done.

Good result for you guys today. Is that 8 goals conceded in 2 games? I see Torpey got an assist for Halifax today.

NOW LET THIS THREAD DIE BEFORE YOUR CLASSY MUNICH CHANTING "FANS" JOIN IT.

FCUM average gates

September 9 2006, 11:49 PM

FCUM average gates:

First 3 home games last season = 2234 average
First 3 home games this season = 2486 average

First 3 away games last season = 2078 average
First 3 away games this season = 1422 average

Looks like just the away games to me.

This thread only keeps going because FC United fans keep putting stuff up (although i've sort of scuppered that point here a bit). I'd give this Alty fans are really City fans thing a rest if I were you. There's a lot of Alty fans that are United fans too. Some people support a "big" club and a "little" club, just like the kid I saw going to your game today with "Rooney" on the back of his shirt.

Anyone who thinks FC United's support is diminishing needs to remember this stat. Can't believe people are still saying rubbish like "it'll all be over by (insert date here)" It seems that some will still be saying it in 10 years time

Whatever. I hope Torps gets a good reception off you lot on Tuesday

Torpey

I can't imagine any sort of reception/reaction to him at Moss Lane on Tuesday, simply because his short time at Alty was completely nondescript.

listen mate, when your team has had ANY kind of real test, and you arent just going around to teams with a fraction of the budget of yours, beating them with your quite frankly mercenary players cothen patting yourself on the back for being so successful, you can talk about our current state of affairs. Although we may need to sort out the defence ON the field, your lot need to sort out how to control their 'fans' off the pitch. At the end of the day, it screams volumes to me that although there were a clear 6 people who have consistently caused trouble at the club, one has been banned... Get a reality check, I can PROMISE you that your average attendance will start falling when you get to the level where you start losing. Oh and incidently, this is an Altrincham board, so you can stop posting about your fad, erm I mean team here.

Serious Question for FCUM fans

September 10 2006, 11:37 AM

I have a serious question (shock horror)

IF Glazier leaves Old Trafford will you go back to being Manchester United Fans are is it the fact that Manchester United PLC let this happen to the club so therefore you will always stay away ?

This is the only thing that concerns me about FCUM that a club will just cease to exist and leagues will have to be re-sorted out mid season.

I know plenty of genuine Manchester United fans (who do actually go games home and away before you say) that hate FCUM and what it stands for and would not want you back anyway but be interesting to hear your points of view on the subject.

If you are going to be on this top flight of non league forum you might as well have a nice conversation

The Cantona thing baffles me. I would certainly be annoyed if I was current Man U player and the fans would rather sing about a past player than myself !

altogether now ... ONE JACKIE SWINDELLS, THERE'S ONLY ONE JACKIE SWINDELLS !

"If you are going to be on this top flight of non league forum you might as well have a nice conversation"
We'd love to but when your fans keep posting provocative topics about us on here and post under usernames like 'fscum' you can understand that it tries our patience a wee bit.

A simple answer to your question is that the club wasn't just formed because of Glazer, it was a collective disillusionment with the professional game at the top level. And before you ask, yes a lot of us made protests during the PLC era (that's why IMUSA and Shareholders United were set up). I doubt anything will change if the Glazers sell to someone else who will be the same as them, therefore FCUM will continue

As for our attendences falling when the club stops winning all the time - yes, it probably will a little bit, but name me a club in this country whose attendences don't suffer when the team does badly. Every club has that section of support, don't single us out on that one. I'm pretty confident that these attendences will remain high though. I'm sure yours would drop slightly if you got relegated back to the Conf North

Top level

September 10 2006, 12:27 PM

If you don't like 'the game at the top level', how far up the league pyramid do you want to reach?

Re: Top level

Even if FC United attendance dipped to 200 a game they would and could still exist. There's plenty of NWCL teams carrying on with crowds less than that. Ok they wouldn't play at Bury but would share with a smaller club. They aren't suddenly going to go away because there are enough of their fans who support FC United just for being FC United. If you look at the threads on their forum there is much more realism about the level being played at than there was twelve months ago because there is more understanding of it. Yesterday it appears they got their sternest test so far this season against Trafford and there were complaints that from some quarters that it was the worst they had played all season. Well when you are up against someone you can beat 5-0 you can look wonderful. Just ask Dagenham and Redbridge fans.

George Orwell would be proud

September 10 2006, 12:59 PM

Just found this thread on their forum

"In a previous post someone mentioned that the bar at Alty was closed at half time. The fact of the matter was tho bar was open It was open to officials of Trafford FC and FC United. Correct me if I'm wrong but as supportters of FC we are owners of the club and consequently members of the club are also officials. It was clearly wrong for these " FC united officials" to use the bar facilities whilst the owners of the club were not allowed to. This infers a culture of the prawn sandwich brigade which will cause long term damage to the club and is one of the reasons why our club was created"

Also on the exact same thread:

"For ****s sake.

Do you also get wound up that you arent allowed in the dug out?

Does it nark you that you have to use a different mode of transport to the team bus?

Do you get pissed off that the Kit man doesnt come round to your house and lay out yer underpants and ****ing socks on a morning?

Do you get annoyed off that you cant get into the changing rooms at half time?

Or is it just missing out on a half time pint that grinds your gears?"

Also:

"I'm getting tired of the self-rightous cant on here about how evil other clubs are for daring to close their bars to us just because we damage them on previous visits. That stuff a few weeks ago about how easy it is to punch holes in ceilings during a gesture of celebration was pretty typical. You'd never do that in someone else's home so why do we imagine we have the right to do so in someone else's ground.

It's this sort of thing that pisses off clubs we encounter in these leagues and earns us a reputation for arrogance.

I'd hoped that a bonus of leaving OT would be that we'd also lose the Big Time Charlie attitude. Seems that we've brought with us from OT some of those who followed MUFC because it made them feel important.

Try to remember that:

(a) the Our Club Our Rules thing doesn't apply at other people's clubs

(b) posing as a lovable naughty scally is a Scouse thing, not a Manc one. "

Re: Serious Question for FCUM fans

If anything hurts FCUM it won't be lack of support but dissent within it. They're going to end up split between supporters who see it as a pro-United anti-Glazer movement, supporters who treat it as an anti-commercialism movement, and supporters who just want to watch a "normal" club which wants to win things. As they progress within the leagues, it'll become more apparent that the three things cannot co-exist and something will have to give. That's where the problems will arise.

Bored of FC United now and am locking this thread.

Lets talk Altrincham FC or at least about teams that are our rivals, in our league or ones that actually have a relevance to us.
