I noticed again yesterday that Coburn was the only keeper in the squad; surely as we have three keepers listed in our first team squad (Coburn, Acton & Cummins) we should have at least one on the bench for a conference game? We all saw last week with D&R keepers can get injured. What would we do if God forbid Coburn was injured in a game with no Chrissy Adams to come to the rescue again!?!?
1) When was the last time we needed a keeper and it affected the result of a match
Answer
Woodley away csc - we won
Harrogate away 2003/2004 season in which chris adams played and kept a clean sheet
2) It is a waste of a sub the points above illustrate that for over 120 games without this affecting our squad therefore with our irratic performances the use of the extra sub is ideal.
I think Woodley and Harrogate are a different prospect to say York or Burton etc. 1-0 up with 20 to go and ending up with an outfield player in net rather than a keeper could be the difference between 3 points or 0. Is it not an insurance policy to have a keeper on the bench, especially at this level?
