Those mounts will only work in a 65-69 or a 70-76 with manual steering

In late 69 Ford changed the mounts because the ones you have won't clear the power steering steering box. Hawkrod

FWIW, my '65 uses the original 352 stands and I converted to a p/s box from a '78 and with a '74 pump and bracket without interference problems. Did have to clearance the box to clear the frame crossmember though, but teh engine stands weren't an issue.

If that is the case you do not have original stands

If you bolted a Ford power steering box in (not a Bendix) it will hit the stand and there is no way around it. That is why Ford had to change the stand. It may be that your stand had already been replaced as Ford quit selling the 65-69 stand and sold the late 69 and newer as a replacement. Who knows what happened in 1972? Hawkrod

Here is some great detail from an article over at Fordification ( http://fordification.com/powersteering.htm ). Click on the pictures to see larger images:

I installed a later model power steeirng box on my '66 F100 Ranger but I had to notch the engine frame mount. No biggie.
