This guy has been been trying to sell these carbs for months and always has long auctions. It's a $5000 B.I.N. but how much is he paying in fees? I won't comment on the $5000 price, that would even make Perogie blush!!

for way too much money. Hope the fee's choke him. If they were worth anything they'd have made more than 250 manifolds.

How do they fit on the manifold? Are MELs that long to place 3 carbs.......

......with full circular air cleaner mounts in line? Wow, Rod.

fees

July 4 2009, 7:12 AM

When you have a ebay store, the fees are not much. The bulk of the fees are paid at the sale so you can afford to leave stuff like this listed. The MEL tri power is indeed rare and impressive. I have seen only one installed, at the Pure Stock Drags a few years back. I think that $5000 would be high, even for the manifold, carbs, and air cleaner.

Last complete setup with air cleaner and fuel pump sold for well over 10K

July 4 2009, 9:16 AM

His price is a bit high but not stratospheric. It is the rarest Ford performance setup I know of. A Lincoln air cleaner will easily bring 5K and the fuel pumps are almost 1K for a repro. Hawkrod

The ebay carbs have 4-hole bases, that one you show has 3-hole pads. It appears to.......

July 4 2009, 6:17 PM

.......be different than Bob's photo (1,2,3, and especially 4's runners). How does it bolt to heads, it doesn't show enough mounting holes, does it use clips that bolt to the heads?, JMO, Rod.

Well Rod

July 4 2009, 8:06 PM

I do not know...just have a chance to buy it and will need to take a closer look. It is NOS and never been bolted down. I was hoping one of you guys could help me identify what this thing is all about. I can get 2 Stromberg 97's as well for 375.00 each. Have no use for these parts and would be buying to sell only. If someone wanted them the price would be very fair from me. thanks for the response.

Kerry, I`d have to think that MEL intake is aftermarket, and likely worth very little. KInda like the old 3 (or 6) Stromberg/97 Holley 3 bolt FE intakes, basically just good for "wall art", while the factory Ford stuff goes for big coin. I don`t know how many people are actually into MELs, but I can`t imagine there are very many. Especially willing too shell out that kind of bucks.
