What is it worth

I have a guy trying to sell me a .30 over 428 service block, with a set of correct 428 CJ heads.

I kinda know what the heads are worth, but, not sure on the value of the service blocks.

In addition, I have a guy offering me a 65 Fairlane, true Sport Coupe, with 289, four speed, bucket seat, console car. Car is basically all there, and supposedly runs. Typical rust issues, but, overall solid car. I have not messed with the Fairlanes, esp. the 65s, so I am lost on the value. I know that they are pretty cool rides, especially the Sport Coupes.

Whatcha think, guys?

Since you are asking what we think...

I think:
Not enough information on the block or car. Value is all about condition. The more we know about condition, the better the value can be assessed.
Does the seller have an asking price? I feel the seller has an obligation to at least start with some sort of price. Then you can decide if the value is there or not. happy.gif

is the block ready to build or does it need bored/honed. A block that far over and needs bored again and a service to boot is fine to build if you own it. I Stay would away from the 65. one off model, hard to find parts and new owners. Now if it was in good shape with no rust that would be differant. I had one, I LIKE them LOL.

"Typical rust" means different conditions in different areas of the country...............

............In Michigan, "typical rust" on a 65 Fairlane is a car with the axles (F/R), wheels/tires, and glass remaining, lol, Rod.

Fairlane

I am particularly fond of the 65's. It is harder to find parts for, only came with small blocks, and has a look that some aren't fond of. That being said... if you like the look... they are REALLY inexpensive. I would not buy one with body rust. I think the pans are the same as the the 62-64's.

Funny this is, I am having one shipped from Arizona, right now. Going to run a small block, though... parts are wayyyy too cheap. Like 5.0 mustangs...

What is the price he was wanting to get for the 4-speed car? If you don't mind me asking...

Mike

Mike, the guy has offered the car to me for a bit less than $2500.00, and says it was a running car until a year or so ago, when it was supposedly parked. I am supposed to go look at it this weekend.
