Early 428 CJ Short Block C7ME-A

Early 428 Cobra Jet short block.

C7ME-A block with 7M5 date, C scratch, and webbed main supports. Block has been degreased, magged, and measured by machine shop. It is currently .030 over, but had been run very little. All 8 cylinders had less than .001 taper (.0295-.0305)and the machine shop said they would clean up nicely. No scratches or pitting in cylinders.

1U crank was cleaned, magged, and polishied STD/STD.

C7AE-B rods look to be in good shape.

I believe the pistons are Silv-o-lite CJ replacement pistons .030. Great condition, with no visible wear on the skirts and the marks from the pistons being machined are still visible. I would not hesitate to use them.

January 68 dated timing cover. Good pan with no major damage.

I do not have the heads. I can't identify the cam that came out of the engine, so I'm not sure if it is original or if it was replaced when the engine was rebuilt. I will include it in the package.

$2500.00 obo. I will put it on a pallet and help arrange shipping if needed. Located in San Diego.

Email [email protected] I will be at Monterey this weekend, but will do my best to respond to emails as quickly as possible.

A Shelbly GT 500 short block. It's a little early for a CJ production.

Not according to my research...

August 17 2012, 4:13 PM

They started building the CJ blocks in Nov/Dec. Keep in mind that the first production cars were available April 1st, but they were building them and racing them for months before that. In fact the first 50 were built at the end of December of 67.

rods

are the rods large bolt rods? Just wondering where your info comes from saying Ford was stock piling blocks for April 15th over 4 months before they needed them. The same block, crank, and C7AE-B rods with std bolts were also used in police cars and any Q code car. No need to cast them that soon for CJ cars. You are missing the real rare parts, heads, intake, carb, exhaust, those parts cast that early would make your claim.

This would be a nice block for a "135" car

From what I've studied, the 135's did have PI blocks so this would fit it nicely. Shelby GT500 would work too.

There you go

August 17 2012, 9:44 PM

Ford had a 3 week casting date prior to production. Targe 135 cars, Sheblys, and raise the price to $3000.00. Sell the crank and rods seperately for $400.00
