ive got this from virtual festivals, see if you agree. i think most of its bollocks (system, lostprophets, mudvayne, slipknot and queens of the stone age dont seem likely at all because theyre touring other places like ozzfest or theyve played recently) but we'll see next monday

The Mighty Carling Weekend will be held, as usual, on the August Bank Holiday Weekend (23rd-25th), at both Reading and Leeds.
We will have many more details very soon - watch this space!
They say themselves - these bands are rumoured. As it has been said many times on this forum - anyone with half an interest in music can make up rumours of who is likely to play (for new album marketing, or popularity increase) and then claim themselves as "knowing all along" when the bands are announced.
I'd wait for the official lineup personally and not belive anything else until its stated by the promoters.
I hope the lineup doesn't encourage instant whining about the bands - their is always a good mix and i think that whining is pointless when the bands are confirmed.
i said the same thing a while ago, and just to elaberate on the point it makes no difference who's going to play, i'd say everyone who reads this message is going pretty much regardless of the line up.
I have friends who have already booked days off work for it, thers always going to be bands you do and don't like, imagine if you loved all the bands there, what would you do they'd all be on at the same times, no time to drink or anything...
i'm going on, you know what i mean, i'll leave it at that.
They're spending the summer recording their new album. When they finish that they're having some time off before it's Autumn release I think. So they're doubtful.
are they extending it to 4 days this year coz if they've got 2 headliners then why approach 2 bands (oasis and metallica) who aren't gonna settle for anything less than a headline slot
Getting Oasis, Prodigy and Metallica as headliners is surely a bit of an all your eggs in one basket situation. That'd cost them a fortune. As would getting Linkin Park, System of a Down and Offspring (three of the worlds biggest selling bands) in support.
I'm sure a combination of them are likely, but I wouldn't have though all of them. I'd say Offspring, Prodigy and possibly Muse as headliners.
.......in 2000 they had deftones, slipknot, limp bizkit, foo fighters, blink 182 and rage against the machine amongst many other big bands, who were all pretty big acts at this time. Aswell as the mighty At the drive-in on THE CARLING STAGE how amazing that would be now.
